Methodology

Data sources

  • Monuments Historiques — the full list of immeubles protégés, published by the Ministère de la Culture on data.culture.gouv.fr. Filtered to the Centre-Val de Loire and Pays de la Loire regions.
  • Wine appellations — expert reviews from Wine Enthusiast, aggregated by appellation.
  • UNESCO World Heritage — the World Heritage Centre catalogue, with particular focus on site 933 (Loire Valley between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes).

How each page is built

Each entity page is generated from the relevant row of its source dataset. Three key-point sections (Identification & Protection, Location & Access, Loire Context) are rendered in sequence, each with sub-points and sourced facts.

Metric definitions

Classé vs Inscrit: two tiers of French heritage protection — classé is the higher tier. Mérimée ID: the reference identifier used by the Ministère de la Culture. Coordinates: WGS 84, from the source dataset.

Updates

Data is refreshed weekly. The last refresh date is printed at the foot of every entity page.
