Historical notice
Le prieuré de Chanceaux a été fondé au cours du 11e siècle, sous la dépendance de l'abbaye de Saint-Julien de Tours. L'église, devenue paroissiale, a été séparée des bâtiments conventuels. Ceux-ci ont étés transformés en locaux d'exploitation agricole. Deux bâtiments médiévaux, à usage domestique, subsistent et forment l'angle nord-est du quadrilatère aujourd'hui constitué. Le premier a été transformé en écurie-grange et le second, très remanié, en habitation. Le premier parait remonter au milieu du 12e siècle (baies géminées conservées) avec une charpente du 14e ou du 15e siècle. Le second, en retour d'équerre sur le premier, est trop dénaturé pour être daté mais il a conservé des vestiges de peintures murales du 14e ou du 15e siècle sur son mur pignon. Les autres bâtiments (hangars, grange et fuye) sont postérieurs et tous remaniés.
