Cathédrale reconstruite aux 12e puis 16e siècles. En 1678, un ouragan détruit l'édifice qui est à nouveau reconstruit de 1680 à 1700 et dédié à Saint-Louis (à l'origine, la cathédrale était dédiée à saint-Pierre puis saint-Solenne).
