Historical notice
Ce château a été construit à la fin du 16e siècle et au début du 17e siècle (sur les plans de l'architecte Théodore Lefebvre), puis dans la seconde moitié du 17e siècle. Le parc est complémentaire du château et conserve les restes des grands tracés jardinés établis entre le 17e et le 19e siècle : aménagements à partir des années 1630 d'un parc à la française, peu modifié au 18e siècle et transformé en parc paysager à partir de 1822.

Parc délimité au nord par le mur de l'orangerie, à l'est par les parcelles 786, 880, 97, 85, 86 et 478, au sud par la route de Vannes (à l'exception du cimetière situé sur les parcelles 479 et 480) , à l'ouest par la route nationale 20, les douves (parcelles 73, 74, 489, 734, 756, 780, 781, 900 à 902) étant comprises intégralement (cad. AH 60, 64 à 66, 71 à 76, 78 à 89, 91, 92, 97, 463, 477, 478, 489, 734, 736 à 740, 743, 745, 756, 757, 780, 781, 786, 871 à 880, 897 à 905) : inscription par arrêté du 7 mars 1995
