Historical notice
Précédée par un porche ajouté au 15e siècle, l'ancienne église paroissiale de Saint-Jean-sur-Indre présente une façade du 12e siècle. La nef possède des murs goutterots parementés en petit appareil, appartenant à un édifice du 11e siècle. Couverte en charpente masquée par une fausse voûte de plâtre, cette nef aboutit à un choeur du 12e siècle, voûté sur croisée d'ogives, et terminé par un mur plat ajouré d'un triplet en plein cintre. Au sud fut ajoutée, au 15e siècle, une chapelle seigneuriale. La souche carrée du clocher date du 12e siècle et l'étage supérieur octogonal est moderne.
