Historical notice
L'église était autrefois composée d'un choeur du 15e siècle, d'une nef du 13e et d'un clocher de la fin du 12e. En 1875, la nef qui menaçait ruine fut reconstruite par Monsieur Dauvergne. Le clocher, écroulé en 1882, fut reconstruit par le même architecte en 1892. De l'ancien édifice subsistent le choeur et les boiseries de la porte d'entrée épargnée par l'écroulement du clocher. Le choeur est à cinq pans, cinq chapelles étant disposées entre les contreforts. Les chapelles ont été ajoutées en 1537 par le doyen du chapitre, l'abbé Dubreuil, qui fit don en 1539 de vitraux relatant la vie de Saint-Laurian, dont il reste des fragments. Datée de 1498, la porte se compose de six panneaux supérieurs sculptés d'entrelacs flamboyants avec les armoiries du seigneur de Vatan. Les douze panneaux inférieurs sont ornés de serviettes.
