Historical notice
L'hôtel de Bourdon est tout ce qui subsiste de l'ancienne abbaye Saint-Ambroix, fondée au Moyen Age. Au début du 17e siècle, elle était dans un état de complet délabrement. Entre 1635 et 1645, les bâtiments actuellement visibles furent reconstruits pour former l'hôtel. Acquise comme bien national à la Révolution, l'église abbatiale fut démolie au 19e siècle et il n'en subsiste que les vestiges du choeur. Cette église avait été réalisée au cours de la reconstruction de l'ensemble, par l'architecte Lejuge, avec emploi de l'ordre dorique à pilastres cannelés. Le bâtiment du dortoir, également dû à Lejuge, date de la même époque. Ce dortoir comprend, au rez-de-chaussée, l'ancienne galerie du cloître incorporée au corps de logis. A l'étage, un couloir situé au-dessus de la galerie précédente dessert cinq cellules de moines ayant conservé leurs aménagements et boiseries du 17e siècle.
