Historical notice
Cette maison a été édifiée au tout début du 20e siècle, entre 1900 et 1912. Elle est remarquable par ses ouvrages de charpenterie et notamment par la complexité de ses trois lucarnes de comble, particulièrement visibles au croisement du boulevard de Chateaudun et de la rue du Faubourg-Saint-Jean. Elles sont l'oeuvre d'un jeune charpentier renard de 17 ans, Pierre Renard, qui voulait prouver son savoir-faire. Il a accumulé les difficultés techniques alors qu'elles ne répondent à aucune nécessité matérielle existante. Il a réalisé des sortes de chef d'oeuvres qui rivalisent d'originalité : capucine à liens tenaille et faîtage relevé, lucarne à chevalet et faîtage relevé, guitarde rampante à flèche romboïdale torse.
