Historical notice
Le fort Saint-Louis était un ouvrage de défense qui flanquait, à l'est, la partie de l'enceinte principale du château correspondant au logis royal. L'entrée se faisait par deux portes dont seule celle du nord subsiste. Deux tours cylindriques pleines la flanquaient. L'accès à la porte se fait par un pont dormant d'une arche, déjà mentionné au 16e siècle. £La tour flanquait la façade Est de l'enceinte du fort. La partie supérieure a été bâtie en même temps que l'immeuble 17e, et couronnée d'un dôme en charpente.
